We live in a world where, if you run your own business, you are expected to be out there. A website and LinkedIn profile are bare minimums. After that, there’s your blog/vlog/YouTube channel/Twitter feed… I could go on, but I won’t.
For any of these things to work, you have to be clear in your own mind why your business matters. Once you are, you’ll be able to explain to potential customers how you’ll make a difference to them. Then they’ll understand why you’re the one for them.
In the last 25 years, I’ve interviewed hundreds of people about their enterprises and how they’ve come to do what they do. In telling those stories, they are much clearer about why their work is valuable. Those insights shape everything that follows – words for their website, presentations or blogs. When you get your thoughts together, everything else comes together.
But often there are blocks. Do these ring bells?
Get rid of that sinking feeling.
I’ve noticed how successful business people still have moments of doubt, particularly when they are asked to go public. They’re not sure whether people will find what they have to say interesting. As one client puts it, “It’s scary putting your head above the parapet.” That means their business story never gets told… and articles, blog posts and videos never get done.
So potential clients never discover where your drive and expertise comes from. Nor why your company is so good at what it does.
Wouldn’t it be great to turn that around?
Get rid of that guilt.
Another issue is time. You haven’t got any. Not even 5 minutes to gather your thoughts, so you can write or say something meaningful about your business and why you do it. Something that will convince your prospect that you’re just what they need.
Months pass. Then you, and your team, begin to feel twitchy, because all that branding, marketing and content stuff hasn’t been done.
If only you could find an easy way to get your head together…
So go on – Pick My Brain.
When I interview business founders and directors, I help them to get clear quickly and effortlessly.
In the course of a conversation, my interviewees will see their business with fresh eyes, often from the perspective of their customers.
Then things fall into place.
Suddenly, they are clear about what they offer. That clarity brings them more confidence. No danger of waffling or looking foolish.
They can communicate in a compelling way. Getting out there with articles and presentations is much easier and more enjoyable.
Exclusively, for you…
